The SIU Board of Directors are proud to announce Brett Bass to Interim Director of Coaching and Shane Stuber to Interim Assistant Director of Coaching. Brett and Shane have both been involved with SIU for many years and will begin in their interim positions immediately.

Bass has served on the SIU coaching staff for 9 years and is excited to begin in the interim DOC position. He wants to continue the positive change we’ve seen within the club over the course of 2023.

“My goal is to provide our players, families, and staff with an environment that we all can continue to grow and thrive in. I believe that the future is bright for Southern Indiana United and that together we will be able accomplish many things together as a community.”

Bass currently coaches the SIU 8U Girls Academy, SIU 16U Boys, he is the Charlestown High School girls head coach, and he coaches the Indiana ODP 2007-2009 Boys team. He currently holds his USSF “C” License and plans to pursue his “B” license in the near future.

Bass is originally from Houston, Texas and moved here with his family at a young age. He played club at United 1996 FC and continued to play soccer in college at Transylvania University. Bass was introduced to SIU from his high school coach, and current SIU coach, Brandon Rogers. Bass and his partner, Emily, have 3 kids (Elaina 11, Ella 7, and Reid 1). One of his children plays in the SIU U8 Academy.

“I want to thank Southern Indiana United for the opportunity to fill the interim DOC position.”

The club is excited to bring the experience from Shane Stuber to the Interim Assistant Director of Coaching to provide guidance and assistance to Brett. Shane has filled the interim DOC role in the past with great leadership.

Stuber’s immediate and main focus will be the success of our upcoming futsal season. He has a tremendous amount of experience in this program from past years.

Stuber has been coaching competitive soccer for 32 years and has been with SIU for 5 years. He was also the boys varsity assistant coach at New Albany High School for 7 years. Stuber attended Georgetown College where he played soccer, he is a former KY ODP Coach Evaluator, and has provided free youth soccer clinics for New Albany Parks and the New Albany Housing Authority for 7 years. Stuber lives in New Albany with his wife and he has 4 children. One of his son’s is a player on the 2013 Boys Red team.

The search for a permanent Director of Coaching is underway. Former DOC, Andrew Minnis, will remain part of our coaching staff and will continue as head coach in the 2011 and 2012 boys age groups. We love the energy Andrew has brought to the club and we are excited to see him continue in his coaching roles here at SIU.

SIU is rounding off its fall season while heading into winter training and futsal. Brett is ready to dive in to get to work on supplemental tryouts (Nov. 4th), continuing coaches education, sorting winter training schedules, planning for the spring, and getting another season of TOPSoccer started.
