Boys and girls born between 2020 and 2005 at ANY skill level are welcome!

The spring season begins in April and runs through early June.

This registration is for the spring 2024 season and covers all Rec soccer players born between 2020 and 2005 (4U-19U). Players born in 2019-2020 (4U/5U) will have their practice and games on Monday nights. Players born in 2018 (6U) will have their practice and games on Thursday nights. For older players, practice nights vary and games are usually on Saturdays.

General Info - Fees, age groups and qualifying birth dates are shown below. If you are a resident of another state, you must register with your home state to get permission to play in Indiana. Our Registrar will coordinate with the appropriate agencies when you indicate your state of residence on our Registration Form.

Team Selection - We do not have tryouts for Rec players and coaches are assigned to teams in the fall. In the spring, players will typically stay on the same team provided the coach returns and the player registers on time. All vacancies will be filled by newcomers at random by the Registrar. Children of coaches and assistant coaches will be placed with their parents.

Special requests for team placement will be considered but are only approved in rare cases.

We are excited to share that we will have girls only and boys only teams for the 8U (2016/2017) age group this season.  We will also have girls only and boys only teams for the 10U (2014/2015) age group provided we have adequate numbers to form those teams.

Practices/Games - For the 4U, 5U and 6U age groups, we combine a practice and a game in one session. Practice starts at 5:30 PM, with games starting at 6 PM; or practice to start at 7 PM, with games starting at 7:30 PM (schedules to be provided). 4U-5U are on Monday nights and 6U is on Thursday nights.

Coaches schedule practices for teams in the 7U and higher age groups. As a guideline, we suggest one practice a week for 7U-8U, and 1-2 practices a week for 9U and older (at the coach's discretion). Most games for 7U through 10U are played on Saturdays. Field locations will be announced prior to the season. Games for 12U and higher age groups are on local fields, and at 'away' locations in surrounding counties in Indiana and Kentucky. Each team is scheduled to play eight games during each season.

U4/U5: practice/play on Mondays

U6: practice/play on Thursdays

U8 girls and U8 boys: one practice a week and games on Saturdays

U10 girls, U10 boys, U12, U15 and U19: 2 practices a week and games on Saturdays

Coaching - SIU Recreational Division registers approximately 600 - 700 children each season and we rely completely on volunteer coaches. We will create as many teams as possible based on the number of coaches and fields available. It's a great, no pressure opportunity to have fun with kids in your community. Coaches are eligible to receive a refund of one registration. If you are interested, please reach out to Aaron Kincade, Rec Director at recdirector@siusoccer.com

Coaching Clinic - There is a free, mandatory clinic for coaches who have not previously completed the IYS Youth Module I training. The clinic covers age appropriate instructional activities, techniques, risk management, league guidelines and general information. Representatives of the both Indiana Soccer and SIU provide expert instruction and attendees are credited for completion of the Youth Module I training program. The place, date & time of the clinic is announced near the end of the registration period.

Volunteers - SIU is run exclusively by volunteers (except that Travel Coaches are paid). The club's success depends on adult participation. Listed below are some positions where you can volunteer to help. Please contact our Volunteer Commissioner or any board member (contact info on our website) with your interest in any of these or other areas. In order to ensure the safety of the players in this club, all adult volunteers must submit to a confidential background check by Indiana Soccer. Instructions will be sent to all volunteers as soon as registration ends. Background checks must be submitted before the season begins.
