The SIU recreational soccer program is for children ages 4-19.

We provide the opportunity for all children of any skill level to learn and play soccer. We focus on FUN!

Players learn about good sportsmanship, teamwork, and get great exercise.

All team members play at least half of every game. There are no cuts or tryouts. Each child receives a uniform. Players provide shin guards, a ball, and a water bottle.

It is run totally by parent volunteers.

Coaching

SIU registers approximately 400-600 children each season and we rely completely on parent coaches. We will set as many teams as possible based on the number of parent volunteer coaches and field availability. If you would like to be a coach or an assistant coach please contact our Director of the Recreational Program, RecDirector@siusoccer.com. It’s a great, no pressure opportunity to have fun with kids in your community.

The SIU soccer season is from fall to spring just like school. Players will stay with the same coach they had for the fall and spring sessions provided that they register on time. All vacancies in the spring will be filled by newcomers at random by the Rec Director. The Rec Director randomly places all players on teams using the following age/gender divisions:
  • Boys: 8U & 10U
  • Girls: 8U & 10U
  • Co-Ed: 5U, 6U, 12U, 15U and 19U (spring session only for 19U)
The children of coaches and asst. coaches will be placed with their parents. Parents will be contacted by their child’s coach prior to the start of games.
